Top 10 Engineering Schools in Ghana

To be a good engineer, you need to attend the best engineering school precisely one of the top 10 engineering schools in Ghana.

Many students with dreams of being engineers change courses due to fear of failure while others see engineering as a very difficult course to pursue.

This article is going to make you understand vividly what engineering is as well as the requirements needed for one to read engineering.

But before listing out the top 10 engineering schools in Ghana one can attend, we need to also enlighten you on what engineering is and what it entails.

So without wasting time, let’s answer the question on your mind.

What is Engineering?

Engineering in simple terms refers to the use of science and mathematics in designing and building machines, structures and other items such as bridges, roads, buildings, tunnels and vehicles. Engineering is divided into five (5) main types namely:

  • Civil Engineering: This is a type of engineering principle which deals with the design of physical and naturally built environment as well as its construction and maintenance.

Examples of these designs or constructions include bridges, roads, dams, railways, airports etc. Civil engineering can take place in both the public and private sectors.

  • Chemical Engineering: Chemical engineering involves the study of operation and design of chemical plants as well as methods to improve productivity.

This engineering process normally develops economical commercial processes to convert raw materials into useful products.

This type of engineering uses chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and economics to efficiently produce, design and transform energy and materials.

  • Mechanical Engineering: this is the combination of physics, mathematics and science to design, analyze, manufacture and maintain mechanical systems.

Mechanical engineering requires an understanding of core areas including mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, material science, structural analysis and electricity.

In addition to these core areas, tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, robotics, aircraft, medical devices, weapons amongst others.

It is a branch that involves the design, production and operation of machinery.

  • Electrical Engineering: This type of engineering is concerned with the study, design and application of equipment, devices and systems that uses electricity, electronics and electromagnetism.
  • Industrial Engineering: Industrial engineering deals with the optimization of complex processes, systems or organizations by developing, improving and implementing integrated systems for people, money, knowledge, information and equipment.

This engineering requires specialized knowledge and skills in mathematical, physical and social sciences together with methods of engineering analysis and design to specify and evaluate the results gathered from processes.

Now with all this broken down into their fields should tell you one can only be an expert in one field when it comes to engineering.
